Anton Ponomarev & Guillaume Cazalet - Pyrocene

Pyrocene is the new collaborative album from Anton Ponomarev (P/O Massacre) and Guillaume Cazalet (Neptunian Maximalism). A dynamic, heavy offering, Pyrocene is the perfect compliment to either of these artists' main projects.

With their new work, Pyrocene, the duo lets go completely of any form or notion and drives straight into the abstract domain of drone, noise, and musique concrete. The 40-minute-long journey of a track features a stunning progression. The dark ambient beginnings come together, crafting a mystical and inherently dangerous setting. Everything from there on is weaved around these distorted, percussive blips, seemingly jack cables trying to connect to some otherworldly input. The feedback encapsulates everything, creating a horrific background from which there is seemingly no escape.

A bit of how all this happened.
After the composition for JazzChur_Exile was composed and later published in the JazzChur podcast i decided to show this material to Utech Records, a music label from the US which we both already collaborated with, releasing the music of our main bands: P/O Massacre from me and Neptunian Maximalism from Guillaume. So label wanted to release the album and in addition they also asked James Plotkin, who did the mastering of the album, to make a remix on our composition. For the artwork the Japanese artist Koichi Yamamoto was invited.
At some point Marc Lardon invited me to participate in his music series Soundhund in Chur so i proposed him our duo with Cazalet thinking that this would be a good opportunity to make an album presentation in Switzerland. That's how a small Swiss tour appeared, some venues were interested so i booked some more concerts to give this duo a kick. We are going to continue this collaboration.
